CptHatemonger Nearly a decade removed from the rest of their full-length catalogue and standing in contrast to much of the doom of the era, with none of the flashy guitar riffage or stoney cheese of the likes of Sleep or Warhorse (also great bands), though the middle run of shorter tracks have a pleasantly surprising sense of groove to them. Bleak and noisy in all the right ways, this is a damn good debut for one of the most influential modern doom acts. That last track could be shorter though. - 8.5/10
